SCOPE Membership - continuing medical education
SCOPE Membership acknowledges clinicians working with obese and overweight
patients, who have undertaken continuing professional development (CPD) in the
field of obesity management.
How to become a SCOPE Member
1. Attend relevant CPD events to accrue 8 SCOPE points within a 2 year period; and
2. Successfully pass the assessment of the SCOPE Online Course.
1. Eligible CPD events
a) SCOPE Courses
- Traditionally held at the annual European Congress on Obesity.
- Attendance provides 1 point towards SCOPE Membership.
b) SCOPE Accredited Courses
- Locally run courses/conferences/congresses which have applied directly for SCOPE accreditation.
- Attendance provides between ½ and 4 points depending on length and content of course.
c) Clinical Lectures at Congresses
- Relevant clinical lectures at international congresses accredited by EASO or UEMS, e.g. International/European Congress on Obesity.
- Attendance at such lectures will provide a ½ point towards SCOPE Membership (maximum of 3 points per congress)
- Participants must be able to prove that they have attended such lectures, e.g. certificate of attendance.
2. SCOPE Online Course
- The assessment of the Online Course consists of 20 multiple choice questions, of which 75% must be answered correctly.
- Successful completion of the SCOPE Online Course is mandatory to SCOPE
Membership.
An administrative fee of 50Euros is payable on successful completion of the SCOPE
Online Course should you wish to receive a certificate to
acknowledge that you have successfully passed the online course
or apply for SCOPE Membership having accrued a sufficient number of SCOPE points.
