Online Course

Obesity management is a multidisciplinary subject area that requires a variety of professionals to gain an understanding into obesity patient management. The SCOPE online course provides guidance to assist clinical professionals involved in obesity patient management. The online educational training course is designed to complement existing CME-style training activities and also offers medical doctors the opportunity to become a SCOPE Member.

Professionals that may benefit from viewing the online course material include: Nurses, Nutrionists, Dieticians, Physiotherapists, Doctors, Pharmacists, Clinical Scientists and Researchers, Consultants, Surgeons, Endocrinologists, Diabetologists, Cardiologists, Anaesthetists, Personal trainers.

About the course

The online course has been written by leading international experts in the field of obesity and gives background into the causes and treatments available for management of the obese and overweight patient. Modules include:

  • How and why has the patient presented to you?

  • Is your patient obese and at risk?

  • How will you assess your patient?

  • Is your patient's lifestyle contributing to their weight problem?

  • Is your patient ready and able to change their lifestyle?

  • What are the principles of obesity management?

  • How can you help your patient maintain their weight loss?

Assessment

At the end of the course is an online assessment. This consists of 20 multiple choice questions, of which 75% must be answered correctly to gain the certificate of completion. The online assessment is mandatory for participants wishing to qualify for SCOPE Membership.

Webcasts

Key lectures captured at ECO2008 and ECO2009 are also available through online system.
